SUMMER + FALL 2021
CAPSTONE PROJECT
LUXURY TRANSPORTATION DESIGN
SCAD INDS 470 + 480 - Professor Sarah Bohem
For 15 weeks — 5 in the summer and 10 in the fall — I developed my senior capstone project here at the Savannah College of Art and Design, creating my final project before graduation. When we were given the guidelines to our capstone project, I remember asking myself, “what can I do that this school has never seen before…” This project began with finding an initial problem, big or small, and designing a solution. Through my research, I discovered that 55% of frequent leisure fliers would take more trips each year if the hassle on the airplane could be reduced or eliminated, leading me to redesign the Airbus A380 with a focus on luxury leisure travel for the post Covid - 19 pandemic lifestyle. Through this process, I had to do everything from multiple in-depth precedent studies, code and building analysis, user assessments, programming, and project conceptualization in order to effectively communicating my design. From this, I was was not only able to showcase everything I have been taught these past 3 years as an Interior Design student at SCAD, but I was also able to rekindle my passion for aviation through interior aviation design.
